HOW TO FENG SHUI YOUR KITCHEN

Hello, Everyone,

So much becomes clearer after the holidays are over and packed up. You can see the bare spaces again, the absence of x-mas décor, and the question may be, "Now what?"

It's winter all right! Besides the natural desire to nest more with the cold, a lot of us have focused more on being at home as our world changes. Considering that this is Super Bowl weekend also, I thought that I'd send those of you fabulous or fun cooks some KITCHEN FENG SHUI!

FENG SHUI FOR KITCHENS "No chaos, no creation. Evidence: the kitchen at mealtime." -Mason Cooley, Author "City Aphorisms, New York"

Notice how your friends and family love to gather in the kitchen. People are naturally drawn to the nourishment found there. It is wonderful to have a kitchen that sparks your creativity while embracing this lively gathering place. Utilizing feng shui, you can create a happy, active place where you prepare beautiful nourishing meals.

"Cooking is like love, it should be entered in with abandon or not at all." -Piet van Home

Keeping the ch'i flowing, stimulating your desire to cook is a very good idea. With all that can accumulate in a kitchen each day from dishes to toys, from mail to school items, from shoes to gadgets, instead of a haven of creativity, your kitchen can become a den of clutter. That is hardly inspiring to any of us!

Terah Kathryn Collins' rule is, "Use it every day, or put it away." This targets all those items I mentioned above, and it also addresses the appliances that you like to keep out on top of your counters.

In Feng Shui, food is associated with Wealth and Health.

When we are prosperous, we can buy the foods that truly nourish our health. Otherwise, we may not be able to buy the best quality foods, and our health may suffer. Good health is one of our greatest riches!

Food symbolizes a bridge between health and wealth. Therefore, it is important to take a good look at where the food is prepared and the appliances and tools that are used in cooking it. Is your kitchen safe from sharp corners, knives left out on the counters, etc.? Is anything broken? Repair or discard and replace items that are no longer working. Remember this is affecting you, your health, and your wealth. Keep your stove clean, and use all the burners. This symbolizes the abundant circulation of wealth in your life!

Give your cook a commanding view! If the cook is at the stove and cannot easily see who is entering the kitchen, place a mirror or a shiny, reflective surface behind the stove, to see who is there. Include comfortable seating for those who wander in, and, always make sure that there is good lighting. Avoid using fluorescent lights if possible if they tend to unnerve you.
